I LOVE grapefruit flavored anything. This recipe is inspired by a drink I had at Starbucks in Korea last year- the Iced Shaken Honey Ruby Grapefruit Black Tea. So delicious!! But only available at Starbucks in Asia. Womp.
It’s ok though, I recreated it at home and it’s just as delicious!
I recommend making grapefruit honey cheong (Korean style fruit syrup) for this drink because of its convenience (especially if you’re going to make this drink as often as I do). It stores well and develops better flavor than making it fresh in my opinion! You can make my recipe here.
Table of Contents
Ingredients
Method #1
- Grapefruit honey cheong- quick and convenient to use and stores well, but it does take a little work to make it. Use my recipe here.
- Black tea– recommend earl grey but use whatever you like!
- Ice– crushed filtered ice
Method #2
- Grapefruit- option to use just the juice if you don’t like pulp. If using the pulp, you need to remove as much of the pith and membrane as possible (it’s really bitter).
- Honey– please use real honey!
- Simple syrup– optional but highly recommended. You can use just honey if you prefer, but I think it tastes better to use both.
- Black Tea- recommend earl grey but use whatever you like!
- Ice- crushed filtered ice
How to make it
You can see the full recipe with instructions, ingredients, and measurements on the recipe card at the end of this post 🙂

- Let the tea cool

This recipe is so good! It’s currently on repeat in my kitchen.
amazinggg!!!!!! i love the refreshing taste of this grapefruit cheong! i have tried the apple lemon cheong but this one is 🔥 🔥 🔥
this will for ever be my favorite drink recipe 😋 I can’t have enough of it Love Love Love it 😍.
Okay, unfortunately, I never had the chance to try this in Starbucks Korea so I can’t compare but just from making it, this is so, so good! This was one of the recipes that I immediately saved on insta just from the thumbnail alone haha. This drink is so refreshing and perfectly sweet. And sure it is a bit of work to make the cheong but it’s so worth it! I ended up adding simple syrup to the cheong as recommended even though it was optional and it was peeeeerfect! Also I feel like you could definitely try different teas with this even though I went with what the recipe suggested (ear grey). Thank you for such a great recipe! 🫶
Flavor is very refreshing on a hot Texas day!
love this recipe, so simple and so delicious! saves me so much money from buying fruit teas!
I made this immediately after Stella posted this recipe and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I used pomelo grapefruit and I used a shaker just like she said and it was SO delicious. The shaking is def the most important part.
I love this recipe. Made it for family & friends and everyone loves it too. Have been drinking it everyday since
