I LOVE grapefruit flavored anything. This recipe is inspired by a drink I had at Starbucks in Korea last year- the Iced Shaken Honey Ruby Grapefruit Black Tea. So delicious!! But only available at Starbucks in Asia. Womp.
It’s ok though, I recreated it at home and it’s just as delicious!
I recommend making grapefruit honey cheong (Korean style fruit syrup) for this drink because of its convenience (especially if you’re going to make this drink as often as I do). It stores well and develops better flavor than making it fresh in my opinion! You can make my recipe here.

Ingredients
Method #1
- Grapefruit honey cheong- quick and convenient to use and stores well, but it does take a little work to make it. Use my recipe here.
- Black tea– recommend earl grey but use whatever you like!
- Ice– crushed filtered ice
Method #2
- Grapefruit- option to use just the juice if you don’t like pulp. If using the pulp, you need to remove as much of the pith and membrane as possible (it’s really bitter).
- Honey– please use real honey!
- Simple syrup– optional but highly recommended. You can use just honey if you prefer, but I think it tastes better to use both.
- Black Tea- recommend earl grey but use whatever you like!
- Ice- crushed filtered ice
How to make it
You can see the full recipe with instructions, ingredients, and measurements on the recipe card at the end of this post 🙂

Just bought so many grapefruits to make this! Thanks for the recipe, can’t wait to try it!
Love this drink! Spike it with some tequila to make a riff on a Paloma and you’ll thank me later lol.
This recipe is refreshing and delicious! We live in Arizona and just harvested a massive load of citrus including grapefruit.
This is going to be a must all spring and summer long! 💓
Such a great way to elevate ice tea!!! Thanks for the recipe!
LOVE THIS RECIPE!! I love anything citrusy and I prefer tea over coffee so I always appreciate new fruit tea recipes to try out and this one is so perfect <3
The best drink all year long, especially after a long day.
Love drinking tea this way now. The pulp is my favorite part.
I don’t like grapefruit but every so often my housemates leave one to die in our fridge. I try to be a zero waste girlie so when I saw your ig story on this gem, I made it immediately! Added it to my iced jasmine tea 2 days later and it was delicious!!
Such a great recipe and super simple to make!
